What is Microblading?
Microblading is an eyebrow enhancement procedure where pigment is “scratched” into the skin in a manner that mimics natural hair growth. A manual tool holds the "micro-blade," which is made of extremely fine needles, and the artist drags the tips of the needles through the top layers of skin, depositing pigment.
What is a Powder Brow or Shaded Brow?
A powder brow is an eyebrow enhancement procedure where pigment is deposited into the skin using a machine with a vibrating needle tip. This gives the brow a more solid, makeup-like appearance. This method can be combined with microblading. This is what the term "combo-brow" refers to.
What is a Nano Brow
This is a technique in which a single needle and machine are used to draw eyebrow hairs. This is similar to microblading in appearance and idea, but very different in technique. The strokes will be appear lighter and more airy than a microbladed stroke. This technique is recommended for anyone with more delicate skin. Nnao can also be a good alternative for someone with oily skin.
Appointments
Appointments take approximately two to three hours. In the first 30+ minutes the technician will map out the brows. Client must then sit for 30 minutes to numb. In the remaining time the microblading will take place.
Shape and Color
Pigment is chosen based on each client’s skin tone and hair color. Pigments come in a wide range of color and are often custom blended for each client. The technician will use their judgement as well as the client’s personal preference when deciding on color and brow shape. The client’s natural eyebrows do not need to be shaved off for the procedure, but any hair outside the shape will be removed with a facial razor. Client will see the eyebrow design before anything permanent is done.
Will this Hurt?
A topical cream anesthetic is applied to the brow area. This promotes a more pleasant procedure, but everyone's pain tolerance is different and does not guarantee an absolute pain-free experience..
If the client has thin skin they may bleed slightly during the procedure.
Aftercare
Aftercare is a major factor in the healing process and results of the procedure. The brows cannot get directly wet for 10 days after the procedure. This means no sweating or directly washing the face. Brows will also appear darker during the week following the procedure and some skin flaking will occur as they heal.
Longevity
The longevity of the eyebrow enhancement differs, client to client. Such factors include, but are not limited to: age, sun exposure, and the skin’s oil levels. Results could last 1 to 3 years, and sometimes they can be very permanent. There are different types of pigments, some last quite a long time and others fade quickly.
Who is a Good Candidate
Skin must be in good health, no cuts, sun spots, or abrasions. Skin cannnot be bumpy or rough. Oily skin can receive powder brows, but the pigment will fade very quickly, usually within 1 year. Micoblading is best for people who have normal to dry skin. Cannot be pregnant, nursing, or diabetic.
